Problems
The original website for Encounter Church was home to outdated information for the congregation. Slide functionality was broken for sections that were meant to communicate upcoming events. The design was not originally considering mobile experience, which is a necessity moving forward. Events that the church hosts were buried in the site, whereas they are the most relevant elements of content, reaching both current members as well as new visitors.
Solution
By providing the most basic information upon initial entry to the website, we create a welcoming experience for visitors. The hero image highlights our large sanctuary and gives visitors a picture of what to expect. While keeping the hero image not the full vertical height of the page on most views, we indicate the secondary information, the events. Overall organization to the site was restructured, old additional/unnecessary pages were removed, and information combined to create a more digestible piece.
